Fiestas Patrias is the Peruvian equivalent of the 4th of July. The actual date of independence was July 28th, 1821. In honor of the holiday (it's actually a two-day holiday here), David's nido had a performance that re-created the history of the independence of Peru and honored the three distinct regions of Peru - the coast (costa), the highlands (sierra), and the jungle (selva). I have to admit, I was more focused on getting good pictures of my kid rather than understanding the storyline. I was also amazed that they could keep about 75 kids under the age of 5 under control for a 45 minute performance.
David was a virrey (viceroy in English), which was a representative of the Spanish government in colonial South America. I was amazed that David kept his wig on the entire time!
Apparently, the viceroy died in action and was led away in this photo.

Bravo to David for his performance!

Oh my word, that is so cute. I'm curious: very few weeks you put up a photo from Nido with David in a different costume/uniform/outfit. Does the school lend them to the kids or do you buy them from the school? Their attention to detail is so impressive and they all look adorable. Here the kindergarten puts on one show at the end of the year and the costumes involve moms sewing on crepe-paper tails to the kids' shorts. ;)
We bought the soccer shirt he wore for Father's Day (about $5) and had to rent (about $7) the costume for this one. I have to admit, they were terribly cute last week!
